I cannot believe that Home Depot is already full of Christmas decorations! It's giving me a little bit of anxiety, so I've started working on stocking stuffers!
I love these stocking stuffer sachets. You can fill them with holiday spice potpourri, or go with a more traditional scent and add lavender potpourri!
How to Make Your Own:
- Pattern. I used Teresa Fox's excellent free pattern on Ravelry.
- Materials. I used worsted weight yarn and size 5 needles. I made the smaller size of hearts in the pattern. You'll also need a tapestry needle.
- Skills needed. To make these, you'll need to be able to make knit stitches and do a figure eight cast one. I'd never done a figure eight cast on before, but I used this tutorial from Knitpicks. The hardest part was figuring out that casting on four means casting on four figure eights (you'll see eight loops on your needles).
- Extra tips. It says you can felt the yarn. I wasn't used wool, so I just left the yarn as is. The potpourri hasn't fallen out yet! I also stuffed the hearts with yarn scraps first, and then added the potpourri (to keep the small pieces from falling out).
Hope you love these! They'd also be great for drawers or luggage. If you want to see more of my current projects, you can find me on instagram (SaltyCrafter) and on ravelry (bsl19).
