Baby Layette Set!

November 7, 2014

I've only recently gotten into the baby loop.  People keep mentioning layette sets, and I think this means  a set of things for babies that includes socks, some type of clothing, and a hat.  If that is correct, I made LC a layette set!

I used this great free pattern from Kelly Brooker on Ravelry.

Pattern Tips:
  • This was my very first sweater, and I had the hardest time figuring out how it was being made. Basically, this sweater is knit top town. You made the collar and the top of the shoulders, then you put the rest of the sleeves or waste yarn so that you can knit the body. After you finish the body, you go back and finish each sleeve.
  • I used Caron Simply Soft Solids and I used size 6 needles. I used the Magic Loop method (see Very Pink's tutorial on simple magic loop if you need help on that).
  • My buttons were too big (I bought 3/4 inch buttons online)!  I'd recommend sizing down to maybe 1/2 inch buttons.

Enjoy! If you want to see more of my current projects, you can find me on instagram (SaltyCrafter) and on ravelry (bsl19).
