Etched Wine Glass Engagement Gift

We are so excited that our friends Tanya and Stu got engaged! They live far away, but we wanted to mark the happy occasion somehow! I searched Pinterest for cute engagement gifts, and I just love the "mr" and "mrs" wine glasses I saw there.   I made these engagement wine glasses with my Cricut Mini for stenciling (settings on 3:2:2) and etching powder.  If you don't have a Cricut, you could cut the stencil out of tape.

Here's a tutorial on glass etching from one of my favorite blogs: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2010/06/glass-etching.html

My biggest tip for getting the words straight is to rest the cup and a ruler on the counter to line up the stencil. Some people suggest filling the cup with water, but I found that method really messy.

May your life and crafts be ever salty!

P.S. The top picture is a picture from their house! The cups made it in one piece - I wrapped them in bubble wrap and packed them tightly for shipping.

Note: The links above lead you to my Amazon Affiliates page. I only post links to items that I love and use regularly. I bought my Cricut Mini at Amazon because of the free shipping (and the prices were competitive- but feel free to shop around)!
