Faux Fur Pom Pom Hat

I love the faux fur pom pom hats that seem to be popping up everywhere lately! I've been dying to make my own.

Want to make your own faux fur pom pom hat? Here are my tips:
  • Materials:
    • Worsted weight yarn (I used KnitPicks Wool of the Andes in Wonderland Heather).
    • Needles in size 6.
    • Faux fur pom pom (see my instructions).
    • Hermione hat pattern by Jackie Lauseng.
  • Hat pattern notes:
    • This is a well written pattern. I love the look of the cables and the lace, alongside the pom pom.
    • I was struggling with how to do the yarn overs until I saw this video by Purl Soho.
    • To sew on the pom pom, cut a long piece of your worsted weight yarn.  Pull apart about two strands of yarn, and then use those strands to sew on the pom tightly. If you are making this for someone else, you might want to tie your the ends of your yarn into a bow on the inside of the hat. This will give people the option to remove the pom.
Happy Crafting! I made some cabley mittens to match the hat. Looking for other items that don't require too many yards of yarn? Check out these stocking stuffer sachets, this stuffed bear, or this e-reader pillow.
