I recently decided that perhaps knitting would be a good thing to pick up. It seems more flexible than crochet (even though I love crochet). This was my first project:

Your knitting is pretty good for just starting. I started probably about the same time as you and I've yet to complete a real project. Right now I'm just playing with different knitting patterns to test the waters and have only made a couple of fingerless gloves. Have fun on your knitting journey, you're gonna be good at it. You've done cable already, really!! That's fantastic.
